GAMEHOTEL GAME CHARACTER CONTEST
In a high-speed tour through the video game history of the past 30 years, GAMEHOTEL's select guests present their favorite game characters to the audience.
From Mario to Sonic to the Prince of All Cosmos - these icons of digital pop culture have long ago escaped the narrow confines of video games, and have gone on to conquer the screens of our mobile phones and the walls of our cities, taking over clothing and packaging, and actualizing themselves into highly priced designer toys.
Presentations at the first Game Character Contest in Paris ranged from heart-breaking performances (Mathieu Castelli illustrating the romance between the protagonists in Ico), to unexpected, if not genuinely twisted observations (Steven Poole's analysis of Solid Snake's bad hair problem), to rare poetic moments (Kiri Matsuura's skillful calligraphy and drawing demo of her own characters Vibri and Mojibri), all the way to François Chalet's seminal presentation of Pacman's life and mating habits.
